Of course it's not a new idea, but each giveaway is a different day and each developer needs to know that at least 50% of the community wish to see a portable version. Why it bothers you so much is beyond me. If you can't see the benefits of a portable version over one that's installed to your computers hard drive then you must be ...... well, this isn't the place for such arguments.
You are entitled to your opinion but i think you are wrong. If no one suggested to each developer that a portabhle version would be a nice ide then they wouldn't consider it. Just to reiterate the point further, if I was to suggest that it was a good idea that program A would benefit from a portable mode that doesn't mean the suggestion is valid over and over for every other program unless it's mentioned in the suggestion wall.
I will continue to suggest this for any program I consider would benefit from it unless someone else has bothered to suggest it before i get around to posting. Which could be virtually every day.
